pain free

Don’t find another excuse not to visit the dentist.  You are not alone in your anxiety and should know that skipping your regular dental checkups can lead to major health problems.  Not taking care of your teeth has been known to lead to heart disease, strokes, infections and even some kinds of cancer.  Be brave and take control of your oral health.  Here are some tips for keeping it as painless as possible:

Find a dentist you can trust.

Anxiety about dental care can come in various conditions, from pain, to embarrassment, to nausea. Every person is different.  One thing they have in common however is being comfortable in the chair and with the dentist and their staff.  Dr. Silva has been happily providing quality dental care to satisfied patients for more than 30 years.  He loves the Austin area and serving his community.  He is always learning and exploring new skills and techniques that can help improve his patient’s lives.

Be Honest.

Let Dr. Silva know about your fears and the staff will do everything they can to make you comfortable.  If it’s been a long time since you’ve had dental care, go ahead and let them know.  Starting a new relationship with a fresh perspective will only make you more apt to keep up the good work and visit the office on a regular basis.
Enjoy the New Technology.
Pain and anxiety relief has really advanced since your first trip to the dentist. You have a variety of types of safe sedation to choose from and can rest assured that Dr. Silva and his staff have your wellbeing at heart.  Make sure to ask about new procedures, tools and sedation options before your appointment so you can be prepared.  Dr. Silva’s office is there for you and will answer any questions you have.

Relax.

There are ways to relax yourself before you even leave for your appointment.  Calm down with essential oils dabbed at your pulse points.  Warm wraps and your favorite music can also help you relax and find your happy place.  And always remember deep breathing will bring you back down to earth and generate peace.

Go ahead and smile!  By taking these steps and following through with your appointments, you are doing something great for yourself and your overall health.

sedation dentistryDo you cringe at the thought of having your teeth cleaned? Would you rather live with the pain of a toothache than step foot into a dentist’s office? Many people become so anxious about going to the dentist that they avoid regular checkups and end up with worse oral health problems than they would have had.

If you are one of these anxious dental patients, Sedation Dentistry may be right for you. Sedation can be used for everything from invasive procedures to simple teeth cleaning. It all depends on the acuteness of your fear.

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental appointments and procedures.

The levels of sedation used include:

Minimal sedation – you are awake but relaxed.

Moderate sedation – you may slur your words when speaking and not remember much of the procedure.

Deep sedation – you are on the edge of consciousness but can still be awakened.

General anesthesia – you are completely unconscious.

Good news! Sedation Dentistry is an integral and effective part of our dental services. Sedation dentistry gives select patients peace-of-mind when they visit us as we provide a stress-free and relaxing experience for them.

We administer different types of sedation based on the need and safety of the patients, always putting their medical well being at the forefront.
We can administer one of the following forms of sedation based on the needs of the patient:

Tranquilizers
Anti-anxiety medications
Nitrous oxide
Austin Premier Dental provides complete evaluations, pre-op preparation, equipment preparation and monitoring for all patients that are interested in sedation dentistry, so you can rest easy when you come and see us.
