Aging places a higher risk on most of our health issues, and especially on our oral health problems. Old age, itself, is not the cause of oral health issues, but medical conditions, such as arthritis and medical drugs may affect the look of your smile. Aging increases our chances of many problems, including:

  • Tooth Decay
  • Gum Disease
  • Tooth Loss
  • Darkened Teeth
  • Dry Mouth
  • Root Decay
  • Reduced Sense of Taste

Reduce the problems you experience by caring for your teeth more carefully than you would have when you were younger. Continue brushing and flossing regularly. Plaque can build up faster on teeth of seniors, which leads to gum disease. Some simple tips to keep your smile bright include:

  • Brush two to three times a day
  • Floss every day or after every meal
  • Gargle and rinse using a mouthwash at least once a day
  • Visit your dentist at least twice a year

You cannot stop the aging process but you can slow down problems you may experience as a senior. Call Dr. Bruce Silva today and schedule an appointment.
